OpenAI is privately working with Nvidia on its Open Agent Safety Platform but has declined to be a named public supporter.
Nvidia launched an industry-wide initiative aimed at preventing autonomous AI agents from acting outside their intended bounds, recruiting major labs as public backers. OpenAI is conspicuously missing from the announced list of supporters, though TechCrunch reports the company is quietly collaborating with Nvidia behind the scenes.
The timing is notable given OpenAI's own Dots launch the same week, an always-on agent product that raises exactly the oversight questions Nvidia's platform is meant to address.
A company shipping autonomous agents while avoiding public commitment to a safety standard is a governance flag for enterprise buyers evaluating vendor risk. Expect procurement teams to start asking which labs sign safety frameworks publicly versus privately before granting agents production access.
