Okta is acquiring Permiso, an AI security startup, for approximately $200 million according to a source familiar with the deal. Permiso specializes in identity threat detection, a capability increasingly critical as companies deploy AI agents that act with their own credentials across cloud environments.
The purchase extends Okta's identity platform beyond human users into the fast-growing category of machine and agent identities, a gap that has widened as enterprises roll out autonomous AI systems faster than they can govern them.
