The GPU cloud provider is stacking its board with IPO-tested leadership as it eyes a public listing.
Nscale has added Fidji Simo, OpenAI's former No. 2 executive, to its board as the AI infrastructure company weighs an IPO. Simo previously led Instacart through its 2023 public offering, giving Nscale direct access to someone who has run the IPO process for a consumer-scale tech company.
The move comes as GPU cloud providers face growing scrutiny over capital intensity, contract concentration, and long-term demand durability from hyperscaler and lab customers.
Board appointments ahead of an IPO are a leading indicator of timeline and market positioning, not just governance. Simo's presence suggests Nscale is preparing for public-market questions about growth sustainability that infrastructure-heavy AI companies haven't had to answer yet.
