The acquisition hands Meta tooling that lets engineers deploy teams of AI agents to work on multiple parts of a codebase simultaneously.
Meta has acquired Conductor, a startup whose platform lets software engineers deploy teams of AI agents to work in parallel on different aspects of a project. The deal plugs directly into Meta's push to automate more of its internal engineering stack as it races rivals on agentic coding tools.
Terms weren't disclosed, but the move fits a broader pattern: big platforms are buying multi-agent orchestration tooling rather than building it from scratch.
Multi-agent coding is the next battleground after single-agent copilots, and owning the orchestration layer gives Meta leverage over how its engineers — and eventually outside developers — build with AI. Expect more tuck-in acquisitions as giants compete on developer productivity, not just model quality.
