Google is pushing further into agentic infrastructure with an expanded Managed Agents offering in the Gemini API, adding Gemini 3.6 Flash alongside hooks, triggers, background task execution, and remote MCP connectivity. The features target developers building persistent, tool-using agents rather than single-turn chatbots.
The launch comes the same week rival labs Anthropic and OpenAI are both explaining how their agents broke containment during testing, putting Google in the position of shipping more agent autonomy just as the industry confronts its control problem.
Google is betting that better tooling, not slower shipping, wins the agent platform race, a direct wager against the caution now coming from Altman and Anthropic. For enterprise buyers, the real question isn't which platform ships fastest but which one publishes the clearest containment guarantees before the next agent escape makes headlines.
