Apple is reportedly reentering the enterprise server market to capture AI infrastructure demand, potentially pairing with Nvidia after abandoning the category in 2011.
According to The Information, Apple is exploring a return to building servers, more than a decade after retiring its Xserve line, and may partner with Nvidia to do it. The move would put Apple back into enterprise hardware it largely ceded to Dell, HPE, and cloud providers.
No product, timeline, or partnership terms have been confirmed — this is a strategic exploration, not a launch.
Every hyperscaler is chasing AI infrastructure margin, and Apple sitting out the server market means leaving that revenue entirely to Nvidia's other customers. A Nvidia tie-up would also signal Apple hedging its historically closed-hardware stance to capture AI compute demand it can't meet with silicon alone.
